Are these the same as dyes, are they semi-permanent dyes. I have naturally black hair, but now I have started having a few gray. I am thinking of using a color depositing shampoo or glaze to cover the grey.The grey hair are few but become very prominent due to my black hair. I dont want to use dyes as they are harmful, would these shampoos do the trick.And, could you give me the names of some brands, which are easily available, like at walmart, (cheap). I just want to use them once in a while to cover grey.

these are only good til the next shampoo..if your willing to go that route you can always use something like fanciful you can get that just about anywhere..but beware this stuff will run when you sweat get caught in the rain etc...your best bet might be something like a semi-permanent color that way you only have to mess with it as your hair grows...color is ok to use the only time they become concerned with health is if you have been dying your hair for 20yrs with the darkest colors... hope this helps...

A color-depositing shampoo or glaze will not cover grey hair. Grey hair tends to be resistant even to permanent hair dye (that's why you see those little old ladies running around with three different colors of red hair on their heads - because the dye doesn't take evenly on grey hair, particularly for a home job.
A glaze can bring out highlights and make the hair shiny; a color-depositing shampoo may slightly tint the grey so that it will look more like really light highlights. However, I have seen neither shampoo nor glaze formulated for naturally balck hair - only blonde, red, or brunette.
Professional highlights aren't too expensive if you only add a few, and can help to cover the grey...budget salons like Fantastic Sam's are a good option for highlights if money is tight.
