Horse hair die???

Horse hair die???

If this is the same horse as in the collection question,I think I'd go with scrubbing his feet down good and using a clear polish or even just hoof oil, which is better for his feet unless you plan to remove the polish and condition his feet afterwards.

For the tail, I'd use a whitener on it -QuickSilver is my favorite. It won't do anything to the black part, just remove the stains from the white, and leave him with a pretty silvery white/black tail. Follow the directions and use rubber gloves for your hands. You might have to do it twice, as he looks pretty yellowed, but you are going to get more natural looking results this way. Use a conditioner on it after you have the color you want, as this shampoo is a stripper and will dry the tail.

Yes I think black hoof polish is pretty.

%26amp; yes you can dye your horses mane %26amp; tail. My trainer dyes her black/white pasint stallions tail because he has alot of white all scattered all in it %26amp; it looks better if its a solid color.

Yes, black hoof polish looks great. Unless they have light or white colored hoofs, then go with clear. Take an old emory board, or even a high-grit sandpaper and kind of smooth out the hoof first, it will make it look smoother when you put the polish on.

You can dye a horses mane and tail as well. It would be necessary to dye the whole tail, not just the white part or it will probably look funny.

Another thing you can look into if you plan on showing is tail extensions. Kinda like a weave for horses, makes their tails look full and long.

Horse hair die???

sorry but this is as silly as those people that dress up their animals

Horse hair die???

The black hoof paint looks good on horses with black hooves but looks rediculusly stupid on horses who have white hooves, just my opinion. You can dye your horses mane and tail, but you have to becareful because it can cause it to become brittle and break off and it would be alittle hard to dye it with out getting it on the horses body because they like to swish their tail. You do not need to dye it, you arn't judged on your horses mane, tail and body color.

Blacking hooves is generally frowned upon in the English disciplines. It's more of a western, or saddle-seat thing.

If he naturally has white or striated hooves, then it looks very strange to black them.

First off the polish:

I think its pretty if your horse has black feet.

I use clear on white hoof and black on black.

Most people just put black on any feet, it looks flashier and really hides the dirt and sand marks.

I personally dont like it when I look at a horse, and know it has white feed and yet its feet have black polish on.

I use a plam sander on my horses hooves to get them nice and smooth first.

Hair dye:

I do not think it is necessary. People understand Grey horses, that some are like that. It doesn't look bad.

And I'm not really sure how the dye would take to the hair?

Horse hair die???

i think shoe polish is ok its pretty and looks really nice usually

yea u can dye their mains my trainer does it for her big shows and for her white horses she bleaches

Horse hair die???

I'm going to answer your second questions first. Yes, you can die a horses mane and tail. Just use die like you would in your hair if you died it. You can actually die an entire horse. Some friends of mine and I died a faded out black horse back black. Luckily he was solid black anyway. Now for the first question. I think hoof black looks good on horses that have black feet. If a horse has white feet(like paints or horses with stockings) or mottled feet(like dunns and palominos) the clear looks best on them. It's a natural thing I guess. But that's just my opinion.

Horse hair die???

yes,i think u shoul that woul be realy nice looking.we show are mustang and we do it to her lol and anymore she just lifts her hoof right up for us to do it!

Horse hair die???

Hoof polish is nice, but I always use clear. I personally would never dye my animals anything. I think that your horse should win on performance not what it looks like. Go natural. It is not good for horses mane and tail to be dyed. They will remain healthier if not dyed.

We used to dye tails, get plastic bags and tape them around the butt area and then use just regular box hair dye from somewhere like Walmart. Not sure if I'd dye the mane, the best idea is to get some spray on hair color from Sallys like black etc and then the day before the show, protect the areas from the spray with plastic and then just spray on as needed and it will just wash out later.

Hoof black looks good if properly applied and it's best to clip the coronet bands to stop it bleeding up into the hair. Get a fine grade sanding block and go over the feet first so that you get a nice uniform application. If you have hoof black on one foot, it should be on all of them so it doesn't look odd. We also used to clip the legs below the knees so that you get a sharper finished look.

I prefer clear hoof oil on my horse because if they have a white hoof it looks more natural with a clear hoof oil. At my barn on the bay horses that have black legs and have a white scar you can use a solution called gray out (you can buy it at cvs) you can also use it on the tail. Hope this helps

Horse hair die???

Yeah, I like black hoof polish. =))

I think you can dye your horse's mane and tail... For fun temporary colors, I heard cool aid works, and that sparkly spray paint (washout) kind from party stores or dollar tree.

But long term, I would NOT dye his mane at all. It doesn't matter at all if his mane is diff. colors. =)

Horse hair die???

I've used both black and clear hoof polish on my gelding (three light hooves and one dark), and although it does look good, I've found it to be tedious to get it on his hooves and get it dry before getting crap (grass, hay, manure, etc.) on there. I'm not a fan of dying a horse's mane and tail, although in this case I can understand the point of it. I don't think you'd be docked points for multicolored manes/tails in shows, though, as long as it's a natural occurance. I remember a question a month or so ago, someone asking if she could dye her horse's mane and tail "like, hott pink." I felt sorry for the horse in question.
