I know rough haired ones can have smooth shorthaired babies. But I didn閳ユ獩 think short smooth hair babies could have rough haired babies I have never seen this till now. I thought the rough hair must be dominant over the short smooth which must have been recessive. Also usually when one of my guineapigs have babies the majority of the time the babies turn out more like the father.... of course they could be looking like a ancestor in the fathers background...But get this I have a cream and brown speckled pig with dark eyes who has 1 baby that looks the same as her1 light grey light pinkish cream and brown speckled baby with red eyes, 1 pure white baby with red eyes. And a pure medium brown baby dark eyes. The father is black with a white strip down his nose. The same male guineapig is also a father with a full dark red ginger pig dark eyes and 1 of her babies is light brown with cream patches red eyes. And then the other 1 is grey white speckled and white patches red eyes. And this is the one that is rough haired and teddy like mixed. All the guineapigs are short smooth haired except for this one.
Is it normal for none of them to look even a tiny bit like their father and how did I get so many different colours? and 1 baby that was rough haired and teddy like? Both mothers are first time mothers and the father is first time as well with both the females.
Can two smooth short haired guinea pigs have a rough hair baby?
In order to answer that question, you would need to know their pedigree for many many generations back. Recessive genes can pop up when you least expect them, especially if you dont know their pedigree!
