Help with dying hair purple?

I want my hair medium/dark brown with purple bits at the ends.

Did the brown and it turned out fine, then tried to put the purple bits in but it didn't work at all...turned out a dull bluey grey colour that you could hardly see.

Would it be best to go to a salon and get it done professionally? Do normal salons do colours such as purple?

you should just go to a salon to be on the safe side, and some salons have purple dye... you just need to ask them

you need to lighten the hair before putting purple on. go to a salon - i once tried to do my hair pink and it was a disaster!

BLEACH THE PARTS YOU WANT PURPLE

WHEN ITS REALLY LIGHT DYE THE BLONDE PART PURPLE. ITS THE ONLY WAY.

go to any salon.

they'll do it.

take purple dye just in case, they'll bleach for you then use the purple dye.

Use bleach to get it blonde first. Purple will only show up on really light hair. You may need to bleach it a couple of times to get it light enough, especially if you already dyed the part you want to be purple brown. I suggest using a packet of Quick Blue and a bottle of developer. You can buy them at any beauty supply store and they cost a LOT less (under $10) than any salon would charge. Be sure to use a really good deep conditioner specially made for colored hair since bleach can be damaging.

go to a salon do try and put any more colour on your own hair you could end up overprocessing your hair which could cause it to break or get really dry. the hairdressers should have purple
